Club Corroboree Net

This is the title of the Westlakes Newsletter. We have been given permission to make it available to MMCC Members. You can see the latest issue CCN 384 here, and previous issues CCN 383 here, CCN 382 here, and CCN 381 here.

Note that these have been edited to exclude some matters specific to Westlakes. They quite often provide answers to questions that are raised by our members.

With thanks to Westlakes Seniors Computer Club

Virtual Water

On the topical subject of water, Paul Budde has issued a communication which youcan read here.

MS Office 2007

One of our members has prepared a Quick Reference Tutorial for Microsoft Word 2007. For those grappling with the different navigation compared to Word 2003, this handy two-page guide can be downloaded here.

'Do Not Call' Register

Australians can register their personal home and mobile numbers, making it now illegal for telemarketers to call these numbers.

Registrations can be made online by visiting www.donotcall.gov.au.

Central Coast Plateau Tourism Plan

A copy of this plan is available for downloading in PDF format (1MB) by right-clicking here and selecting the 'Save Target As...' option.

Passwords and Backups

Still on the subject of computer security, there are two products we suggest are well considering and which are free for limited home use, namely Roboform and GoodSync.

SpamMATTERS

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) implemented the SpamMATTERS reporting system to help fight spam. You can go to http://www.acma.gov.au for details.

RSL Archiving and Restoration Project

For those who may have missed it previously, there is more information on this project here. The project has been featured in an ASCCA Newsletter and is being followed closely by staff from the Australian War Memorial, who have offered assistance.

Allan Alexander is now co-ordinating this project.

Our thanks to Telstra Country Wide for assisting the late Joe Alexander.
